The emotions we long for, love, compassion and joy, are all emotions of the heart. Unfortunately we only rarely access these emotions as we spend most of our time in our heads, caught up in a swirl of uncontrolled thinking, full of frustrations, worries, and unfulfilled desires.

The practice of meditation enables us to let go of our agitated thoughts and feelings, relaxing both body and mind, and freeing us from present and past unhappiness. Through reducing our judgmental attitudes, meditation helps us to draw closer to others, improving all our relationships. Gradually we learn to settle our mind within the peaceful emotions at our heart. It is possible to live in the heart, continuously experiencing joy, compassion and a liberating wisdom.
 
But how do we do this?  In this Free Talk, Kadam Morten will guide us in meditations for connecting to our hearts. He will also explain how the heart is the source of our most subtle state of mind, the mind of clear light. Buddha identified this joyful, expansive, peaceful state of mind as our Buddha nature, a source of limitless potential and optimism. Kadam Morten will introduce the special practice of mahamudra, through which we can connect to this pure consciousness within.
